Chanukah Weekend Retreat

Fri - Sun, Feb 13 - 15, 2009
President's Day Retreat

The Introductory retreats provide an opportunity to experience a taste of your Jewish heritage in a relaxed, non judgmental environment that is educational, social and fun. At each retreat, hundreds of families, singles, couples and students of all ages with little or no formal background in traditional Jewish study attend.

What to Expect from the Retreat
  • Explore your heritage through engaging lectures, discussions and presentations
  • Discover amazing new concepts in Judaism and Torah
  • Celebrate a meaningful, inspiring Shabbat weekend
  • Enjoy delicious kosher meals, a well stocked tea room and lavish Viennese tables
  • Enjoy Sat night entertainment
  • Network with Gateways partners in Jewish education
  Classes & Workshops
Sample Topics include:
  • What Judaism says about our inner, emotional world?  What can it teach us about real-world relations – about building solid foundations in love and marriage?
  • Are Science and Judaism in conflict with one another?  Can an intellectually honest person reconcile Biblical accounts with modern scientific knowledge?
  • Can Judaism lay any claims at all to authenticity? Are the major claims of the Jewish religion a matter of blind faith, or are they subject to rational analysis?
  • Is Judaism – a religion that dates back at least 3,300 years- a relic of the past, or does it have relevance in the modern world?
All the presenters are internationally acclaimed scholars who deliver the information in an eloquent, relevant and humorous way.

For children of all ages, we offer lively children's programming that includes age appropriate activities, art, music, play, and a fun-filled educational off-site trip for children over age 5. Group babysitting is offered for children under age two. All activities are designed to coincide with the adult classes.

A separate teenage program is available for girls and boys ages 13-16.  This program has Q & A sessions, educational activities and a day trip.
