The Yad Avraham Institute was founded in 1986, from modest beginnings: Rabbi Yosef Kalatsky gave a single class at lunch time to a handful of young professionals gathered in a Fifth Avenue office. The Institute accommodates Jews from all walks of life- those with the most advanced backgrounds in Jewish education and Judaism, to those with no affiliation whatsoever.
Once upon a time, Jewish women had relatively little opportunity outside the home to learn about Judaism. It wasn't needed, because homes were different then. Times changed -- the world changed -- Jewish women changed. Today, the Jewish woman's demands for sophisticated Jewish education that nourishes her mind and awakens her soul is at a level never before witnessed. Women from as far away as Australia and Zaire and as nearby as the East Side have been drawn to a unique school in Manhattan catering to the Jewish woman.
Aish HaTorah's vast network of programs is the vision of American-born Rabbi Noah Weinberg, who founded Aish HaTorah in 1974 to combat alarming assimilation rates. From its beginning in one small apartment in Jerusalem's Old City, Aish has become today a premier resource for Jews who long for intelligent answers to important life questions .
Ohr Somayach Tanenbaum College, founded in Jerusalem in 1972, began as a response to a handful of young people who wanted to learn about Judaism. It quickly grew to be not only a respondent to the needs of the Jewish community, but an active initiator of new and innovative educational programs around the world.
Torah.org has found great success with its network of "on-line classes" -- a unique program in Jewish studies offered on the Internet. torah.org's educational material reaches thousands of Jews worldwide every week. In addition, we offer information on a wide range of Jewish programs, speakers and special events, and link our visitors to other sites of Jewish interest.
The Blueprint, the urban Jewish monthly newspaper, serves as an event guide for Manhattan's young Jewish community. With City Life, Manhattan Focus and our exhaustive Blue Pages, we scoop the best hang outs, the latest trends, and exciting new programs. Check out our updated online event listings and pick up a copy of the only newspaper to cater to this generation of young Jews in this borough.
Beit Hatfutsot, the Museum of the Jewish People, is more than a museum. This unique global institution tells the ongoing and extraordinary story of the Jewish people. Beit Hatfutsot connects Jewish people to their roots and strengthens their personal and collective Jewish identity. Beit Hatfutsot conveys to the world the fascinating narrative of the Jewish people and the transcending essence of the Jewish culture, faith, purpose and deed while presenting the contribution of world Jewry to humanity.
